Quantum Computer in the Solid State

QSolid partners enrich BMBF Congress Quantum Systems 2022 with their expertise

Under the motto "Developing cutting-edge technology. Shaping the future." the BMBF Congress Quantum Systems 2022, organised by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, took place in Berlin on 21 June to present a new research programme. With three sessions, the event offered the expert audience on site numerous opportunities to exchange ideas about quantum systems:

  • Relevance of quantum technology for industry, science and society
  • Current state of research in Germany and worldwide
  • Promotion of companies in the quantum field and boosting public interest

QSolid coordinator Frank Wilhelm-Mauch from Forschungszentrum Jülich had the honour of discussing challenges and opportunities for quantum technologies in various areas of society with the well-known physicist and science journalist Ranga Yogeshwar and other experts from business and science.

Together with industry colleagues, Magdalena Hauser from ParityQC – QSolid partner and leader of the work package “HPC Integration” – enriched the event with her experiences on structural and financial requirements for a successful business of emerging quantum systems companies.

The great importance for society as a whole of the BMBF "Quantum Systems" research programme, which was presented at the event for the first time, was highlighted – along with other participants – by Jan Goetz, one of the founders of IQM Quantum Computers and one of 25 QSolid partners.
