Forschungszentrum Jülich - Peter Grünberg Institute for Quantum Nanoscience - PGI-3

Fundamental research in quantum nanoscience is of utmost importance for the emerging quantum technologies, including quantum computing. At PGI-3, we use our extensive knowledge in surface science and nanoscience to contribute to quantum nanoscience and its primary goal: the manipulation and exploitation of quantum-coherent functionality in nanostructures.

Role within QSolid

At PGI-3, the nanoscale properties of superconductors are studied with the goal to enhance the qubit performance. For this purpose, we study the structural and spectroscopic properties of atomic defects and their influence on the superconducting properties using low-temperature scanning probe microscopy.

Our vision for QSolid

Enabling a technological quantum leap by establishing novel qubit materials.
