Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt
The Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) is the national metrology institute of Germany. PTB performs fundamental research and development in the field of metrology, in particular, with respect to the determination of fundamental and natural constants, the realization, maintenance, and dissemination of the legal units of the SI, safety engineering, services and metrology for the area regulated by law and for industry, as well as technology transfer. The PTB department “Quantum electronics”, being situated at the PTB site in Braunschweig, has a long-standing experience in the fabrication and characterisation of superconducting quantum circuits based on Josephson junctions of different types and dimensions.
Role within QSolid
PTB will work on:
(i) the development and characterization of quantum-limited amplifiers
(ii) in-situ measurements of microwave signals
(iii) non-demolition qubit readout and state preparation for full control over Bloch sphere.
The activities will form the basis for a future amplifier/qubit calibration service at PTB.
Our vision for QSolid
QSolid is important to foster technology sovereignty in Germany and, likewise, PTB’s involvement in QSolid is important to initiate metrology for superconducting qubits and related aspects.
